The European Marketing Confederation Qualification and Certification Framework (EMCQ) has been created by EMC to make it possible to compare marketing qualifications from across Europe.

We live in a much more globally connected world these days, where employees are more likely to venture abroad to take up employment opportunities. However, this can be problematic for when it comes to communicating and evaluating different levels of qualification.

A white paper published in 1995 identified this as an increasing problem for employers who were unable to evaluate the skills levels of applicants due to the variety of qualifications in different countries.

Focusing specifically on the marketing profession, EMC reacted to this problem by creating a pan-European accreditation framework to improve the mobility of marketing professionals from country to country.

Known as EMCQ (European Marketing Qualifications and Certifications Framework), the framework allows practising marketers and employers to benchmark a variety of marketing, sales and communication qualifications, on a like-for-like basis.

By helping marketing professionals who may be looking to move to another country or employers looking to appoint a marketing professional from another country, EMCQ creates a level playing field for marketers from across Europe to benchmark their qualifications.
