Meet the Jury Behind the European Marketer of the Year 2025!
21 Mar 2025

The judging process to determine the European Marketer of the Year 2025 is well underway. The winner will be crowned on May 22nd during the MII Award Ceremony in Dublin, Ireland.

The European Marketing Confederation (EMC), representing the marketing industry across the continent, is in the final stages of selecting the European Marketer of the Year 2025. Marketing associations across Europe were invited to nominate their National Marketing Champions. Following the first round of the formal selection procedure, the final candidates were identified. In the second round, each of the shortlisted candidates—from eight different countries—submitted standardized questionnaires, ensuring a fair and comprehensive evaluation of the best chief marketing officer (CMO) in Europe.

The jury members for this year have been selected with great care, and EMC is honored to present them:

(In random order)

  • Árpád Dr. Papp-Váry (Hungary)
  • Ralf Strauss (MarketingTechLab)
  • Giedre Vilke (Lithuania)
  • Christoph Teller (Austria)
  • Catarina Castro (Portugal)
  • Stephanie Lohmann (Salesforce)
  • Grainne Wafer (Diageo)
  • Bouke Lukkien (Lukkien)
  • Peter Brawand (BVMC)
  • Fleur Porter (McKinsey)
  • Martin Huisman (EMC)

The competition has now entered the third round, where an independent, professional jury will interview the shortlisted candidates. These interviews are recorded to ensure the quality and consistency of the selection process. Based on these interviews, the European Marketer of the Year 2025 will be chosen. The winner will be announced at a prestigious gala event hosted in Dublin by the Marketing Institute of Ireland.

EMC takes great pride in organizing this esteemed competition and in assembling an extraordinary jury comprising top professionals from diverse international backgrounds and key decision-makers in the European marketing landscape.

Regarding the selection process, EMC Chairman Ralf Strauss stated:

We strive to showcase marketing excellence as an inspiring role model. These qualities can be cultivated by anyone in the marketing field through continuous learning and self-improvement. It is important for the general public to recognize that marketing is a dynamic profession where individuals can truly excel and make a meaningful impact.” Finally, don’t forget: “Marketing is about creating bridges.”

During this selection process, jury members were impressed by the quality and depth of knowledge demonstrated by the candidates. Some share profound and inspiring quotes such as:

“Marketing is arts and science”

“When love and skills come together, you can create a masterpiece”

“It's not just what you make, but what you can inspire”

One thing is certain- the selection process will be incredibly challenging for the jury due to the outstanding quality of the candidates. However, it is important to recognize that being a European finalist and among the top eight marketers in Europe is already a significant achievement. Let us celebrate and cherish our beautiful profession while continuing to work toward strengthening the European economy through thoughtful and impactful marketing.
