Andreas Balazs has been awarded honorary membership by the European Marketing Confederation (EMC) in recognition of his substantial contributions to the organization. Previously, Balazs served as EMC’s treasurer and vice chair, providing critical strategic support during EMC’s formative years.
Throughout his distinguished career, Balazs has held executive positions, including Managing Director at Valora and CEO of Avenidas AG. In 2018, he succeeded Uwe Tännler as President of the Swiss Marketing Association, where he had previously served as vice president and head of the search committee. He led the association from June 2018 until June of this year.
In a 2018 interview with Horizont upon taking up the presidency of the Swiss Marketing Association. Balazs highlighted the rapid pace of technological change, particularly in communication and sales, noting, “The demands on marketers are constantly increasing. The constant updating of skills is also crucial” This insight remains highly relevant today as AI-driven advancements transform business and marketing landscapes.

Andreas Balazs (1965) has been a member of the examination board for marketing professionals since 2003 and its chairman since 2008. He took the role of marketing manager of the Migrol petrol stations in Switzerland from 2004 until 2008, followed by a managing director role at Valora Switzerland from 2008 to 2013, and then CEO of Avenidas AG for two years.
His next role was president of Swiss Marketing from July 2018 until June 2024. Parallel to his last role, in 2017, he set up Freiraum Consulting firm assuming the role of president of the board of directors. Next to it he took the role of managing partner at Eurodrink AG and managing director and owner of Breil Pur SA, from 2018 until present.
