  1. EMC grows with addition of Lithuanian member, LiMA

Following on from their attendance at our annual conference in the UK, we are pleased to welcome the Lithuanian Marketing Association (LiMA) as our latest member.

Born out of the original Marketing Specialists Association (MSA), LiMA is the primary marketing association of Lithuania, and brings together marketing and communication professionals from across the country.

Established in 2004, the organisation is responsible for bringing together over 800 people marketing and communication professionals from across the country, and boasts associated offices across the country in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda and Siauliai.

LiMA’s membership spans a broad spectrum of industries and sectors, and as of 2008, also comprises marketers from the legal profession.

The organisation is led by experienced marketer, Gintautas Kucas, and aims to help Lithuanian marketing professionals to network and share good practice, knowledge and ideas.

Speaking about why LiMA decided to join EMC, Gintas said: “LiMA has already been acquainted with EMC and had minor cooperation through NIMA. Since last year LiMA started implementing the professional marketing certification system in Lithuania, under the agreement with NIMA. The implemented model belongs to NIMA, which is EMCQ compliant; therefore certified professionals get LiMA, NIMA and EMC diplomas in Lithuania.

“However, by joining the EMC itself, LiMA will be able to participate in the development of the marketing professional qualification standard, and contribute to the strengthening of the marketing profession European wide.

“First, at just 14 years old, LiMA is a young organisation, especially when compared with EMC members from other European countries, such as NIMA or CIM. We hope to obtain the experience of our Western partners to help strengthen the profession we love so much, and to be able to implement that experience in Lithuania.

“We also plan to contribute to the development of the professional standard, the expansion of the EMC Qualification system throughout Europe. We could help establish marketing certification in new countries easier and faster by sharing our own fresh experience.

“By doing so, Lithuanian marketers benefit from innovations in marketing and the sharing of opinions and sector knowledge, not only for the benefit of their own organisations, but also the wider marketing profession.”

As a new member, we also welcome Gintas to our Board. To find out more about Gintas, click here.
